Sofia Crimen
BIOGRAPHY
Sofia Crimen is a multidisciplinary artist originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. She is recognized for her sculpture in materials such as ceramics, resins, concrete, and many other plastic materials, as well as for her installations in both exhibition and public spaces. Her work explores themes of oblivion, memory, ego, and power – all relative to the human condition – revealing man's true nature through the rawness and honesty of the anthropomorphic figures that define her career.
She holds a degree in Industrial Design from UAG and studied at the School of Fine Arts in San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato. In her early career she collaborated in the studio of Master Sculptor Alejandro Colunga. She considers her artistic exploration to be largely self-taught, always in search of the right material to communicate her concept. She was a member of the collective HILOS, a transdisciplinary group dedicated to social commentary through textile art.
