"Black'ity Black", Curated by Jerome China

March 17-April 19, 2023.

Exhibiting Artists: Al Johnson, Alma Roberts, Ashley Cole, Berrisford Booth, Danny Simmons, Dawn Stringer, Femi Johnson, Heather Williams, Lisette Morel & Moses Salihou

Curatorial Statement:

The exhibition provides a straightforward overview of the work of several of my favorite abstract artists. Male and female emerging, mid-career, and established artists from throughout the country are represented in the exhibition.

The absence of work produced by unrepresented artists in many galleries and museums does not indicate that these artists have not produced prolific work over the years. In an artworld dominated by White male artists, these artists embody the current uprising that is occurring in today’s artworld.

The purpose of this exhibition is to introduce this outstanding group of artists to a new and, hopefully, appreciative audience who will regard and view these works for what the are - excellent art created by outstanding artists.
